MILES HOYLE
Musician. Composer. Accordionist.
In terms of live performances, I currently perform regularly as a solo accordionist & with my bandmates in the Fighting Jamesons.
Performing w/the Fighting Jamesons @ Indy Irish Fest 2019
From 2017 to 2023 I wrote the music & was the bandleader for an original world music project called Mosquito Cabaret.
Additionally, I have also previously done live guest-performances with Carbon Leaf, the Hackensaw Boys, the Whiskey Gentry, the Lazy Dangers, & Spirit Gun.
Additionally, I also offer composition as a service-- whether it's writing background music for various uses (podcast, commercial/advertisement, film, television, etc.) or a song for your band/project.
I am featured on the Fighting Jamesons second full-legnth album, "Every Day Above Ground" & Mosquito Cabaret's debut album, "The Life Of Modern Insects" & four single tracks.
I also do guest-performer recording sessions and am featured on the Lazy Dangers Lost Dogs EP on their original song, "One More Night". Additionally, I contributed to the arrangement & also performed guest organ on Spirit Gun's "Restless", & most recently released my two debut solo tracks.
ABOUT MY SOLO PERFORMANCES
I do all kinds of solo performances: private parties, weddings, funerals, bar/bat mitzvahs, cocktail hours, surprises-at-the-door, nursing homes, Oktoberfest events, birthdays, art events/exhibits, cafes, etc. Just about anything you could think/want!
Recordings that feature my performance.
All I need to know from you is when & what your event is (i.e. a grand opening of a business, an informal backyard wedding, a memorial service for a marine, etc. on June X at 7 PM, etc.)-- just e-mail me at miles.accordionist@gmail.com and/or call/text me at 757-560-3893 to inquire for rates.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
#1. "WHAT DO YOU CHARGE FOR SOLO PERFORMANCES?"....
I do not automatically have a flat-rate for any event off the top of my head, however I can give you a quote for your event very very quickly if you provide me with the following information:
Where is your event/what is the address of your event? (@ club "X" with the address provided or my friend so-and-so's house at address-x)
What is the date, time, & duration of the event? (example: Friday May 4th, 2020 - 2 hours - from 8 PM -10 PM)

#2. "DO YOU NEED AMPLIFICATION?"...
I do not require it generally. However, some events may require amplification. I can perform on an electric accordion which can be amplified if I'm made aware of so ahead of time, then yes I can be amplified if needed! Generally speaking, acoustic accordion is ideal for most private party type of events (weddings, cocktail hours, bar/bat mitzvahs, funerals, small birthday and/or backyard/informal parties, etc.) where the event is 100 people or less, but larger events may require additional amplification.
#3. DO YOU TAKE SPECIAL REQUESTS?"...
Generally, yes. Most requests can be met in time for your event if I'm given the necessary time to learn and memorize it before your event. Just tell me beforehand what song you want & the specifics about your event (i.e. it's an italian dinner-theme, or an German Oktoberfest event, romantic songs for a wedding rehearsal dinner, etc.) and I can put together a performance to match your event!
#4. "CAN YOU WALK AROUND/STROLL & PLAY?"....
Yes. I have done this at past weddings & events-- this is doable if you request an acoustic accordion performance-- I can play while walking/strolling around if needed to an extent (for certain songs I may have to hold still) but generally speaking this is very doable. It is not doable with my electric accordion; as I must be plugged in and that restricts movement.
ABOUT ACCORDION-AT-YOUR-DOOR
One of the services I still offer (which was especially popular during COVID-19) is called accordion-at-your-door. Anywhere in Hampton Roads (Chesapeake, Norfolk, Suffolk, Hampton, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, etc.) or even beyond (I've even gone out to Richmond, West Point, & Staunton, VA)-- I will perform accordion & come to you! I provide a safe musical service-- I will wear a mask in any scenario needed and will maintain a safe distance (accordion is naturally loud so I can definitely be 6 feet away or even further) and will do performances for as little as 15 minutes to one hour or more either indoor or outdoor for a reasonable, affordable, & negotiable fee.
A common scenario that I've done this for folks would be to play outside a window or a "surprise-at-the-door" performance for a special occasion (birthday, anniversary, etc.) when perhaps going out isn't the best/safest option for you, but maybe you still wanted to do something special to mark the occasion! I can give you an affordable private solo-accordion musical experience to help set the mood for your special moment while also not putting you at risk!
#5. "ARE YOU WILLING TO TRAVEL TO MY EVENT?
Yes, absolutely! I am based in Norfolk, Virginia-- obviously, this will effect the rate I charge, but if you're willing to accommodate travel costs then I am willing to come to you!
*If you have a question not answered here about any of the services I offer just e-mail me at miles.accordionist@gmail.com and I'll be more than happy to answer!
